Background
The Saskatoon Tribal Council is host to the Dakota Dunes Casino located on the reserve lands of Whitecap Dakota First Nation and in accordance with the “2004 Amending Agreement” to the “2002 Gaming Framework Agreement” is entitled to establish the Dakota Dunes Community Development Corporation. The mandate of the Dakota Dunes Community Development Corporation is to distribute net profits generated from the Dakota Dunes Casino on a fair and equitable basis to First Nations and non First Nation organizations within a defined catchment area.
The Dakota Dunes Community Development Corporation will support by way of grants and sponsorships support economic development, social development, justice initiatives, educational development, recreational facilities operation and development, senior and youth programs, cultural development, community infrastructure development and maintenance, health initiatives and other charitable purposes.
Catchment area – 75 km radius from Whitecap Dakota First Nation
Catchment area also includes the 7 member First Nations of Saskatoon Tribal Council and other First Nations as determined by the FSIN Legislative Assembly.
